 The Democratic Women’s Information Network (DWIN) has adopted as its working mission, “To grow a network of energized, informed Democratic women on the First Coast.”
It sounds so simple doesn’t it? But it encompasses a lot. Notice the italicized words – grow, energize, inform. If we are to have an impact in the 2008 elections on a local level we must do all of them. And make no mistake; we aim to make an impact! Let’s talk about the specifics. |
Grow
• Become a member.
• Renew your membership annually.
• Invite Democratic friends and family members to become members.
Energize
• Attend general meetings. We only meet every other month on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Put it on your calendar. • Come with friends and ideas.
• Join one of our committees. We need your input. We need your talent. We need you!
• Volunteer to work at an event or on a project with enthusiasm! Working together we have a synergistic effect.
Inform
• Be an informed person yourself - come hear our speakers, exchange ideas with other members, know what the opposition is saying, adopt a woman’s issue near and dear to your own heart and work for it.
• Inform others - about DWIN, about your favorite issue, about the importance of voting. Getting involved in upcoming projects at DWIN will help you spread the word to other Democratic women.
The country is ready for change; it has proven that by electing a Democratic Congress and Senate. Did you know that in Duval County Democrats comprise 44.56% of the registered voters - the largest group (Republicans are 36.74%, no affiliation is 14.70%, and the other 20 categories total 4%)? Women comprise a total of 53.71%. Democratic women have the potential to make significant changes, and we Democratic women of Duval County must do our small part by preparing ourselves for the 2008 Presidential elections. DWIN has an ambitious plan but it can only succeed with your help! Our officers and board are ready. Are you?
